TFTAK's Plant-Based Salmon Fillet won the SIAL India Innovation Award

TFTAK

A business visit to India provided TFTAK with valuable opportunities to meet local industry leaders, network, and explore the market for innovative plant-based products. At the SIAL India trade fair, our plant-based salmon fillet was awarded the prestigious SIAL India Innovation Award, recognizing it as one of the most groundbreaking products of the year.

From December 2nd to 7th, TFTAK’s Innovation Director Merli Üle and Alternative Protein Scientist Mark Rohtaru visited India to explore the market and introduce our pea protein-based plant-based salmon fillets. The visit, led by the Ministry of Regional Affairs and Agriculture and supported by the Enterprise Estonia, the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Estonian Embassy in New Delhi, is part of a broader effort to increase Estonia’s export opportunities to India.

During the first three busy days in Mumbai, a series of meetings, networking events, seminars, and production site visits took place. Minister Piret Hartman, along with the business delegation, presented Estonia's food and beverage sector to Indian political decision-makers, as well as food industry leaders. Many business contacts were made, and it was evident that the Indian alternative protein market is ready for explosive growth.

At the SIAL India trade fair in New Delhi, TFTAK was part of the Taste Estonia stand, showcasing its food innovation services and offering samples of the plant-based salmon developed in Estonia.

TFTAK's plant-based salmon fillet received the SIAL India Innovation Award, recognizing it as the most innovative product of the year. The golden award was accepted by Merli Üle and Mark Rohtaru.

Two Estonian companies received SIAL India Innovation Awards. TFTAK took first place with our plant-based salmon fillet, while Revala Ltd. claimed second place with their vitamin-rich dairy-free ice cream. Other Estonian nominees included YOOK, A. Le Coq, and Haage.

Congratulations to all the nominees and winners! We are proud that Estonian food and beverage producers are standing out for their innovation and sustainability.

We thank the Ministry of Regional Affairs and Agriculture, Enterprise Estonia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the smooth and successful organization of the India business visit.
