TFTAK Shapes the Future at “Hack the Future of Food”

TFTAK is proud to contribute to the upcoming Hack the Future of Food 2025 not only with its scientific expertise and challenge topics but also by awarding a special prize to support innovation in the food sector.
The two-day hackathon brings together students, startups, researchers, and food enthusiasts to tackle real-world challenges in the food and agriculture industries through design thinking and hands-on teamwork.
When: November 7–8, 2025
Where: Tartu Nature House, Lille 10, Tartu
During the event, participants will:
Tackle critical food-related challenges
Gain practical experience solving real-world problems
Learn design thinking and pitch training techniques
Hear from an inspirational keynote speaker
Network with like-minded innovators
Compete for exciting prizes, including: – A 1,000 € cash prize pool and the opportunity to join EIT Food’s business support programs
– A 500 € worth consultation from TFTAK
– An exclusive 1.5-hour lab tour with experts from METK
– 5 crates of assorted drinks from A. Le Coq
TFTAK’s special prize is a consultation worth 500 €. The topic of the consultation will be chosen in collaboration with the winning team. It may focus, for example, on product development, packaging and labeling, product shelf life, diverse and healthy nutrition, professional sensory evaluation of a prototype, or another relevant area.
Participants can bring their own idea or choose from challenges proposed, focusing on valorization of food industry by-products, AI and automation in agriculture, sustainable food systems and nutrition and reducing food waste and carbon emissions.
The hackathon is organized by EIT Food, TFTAK, the Centre of Estonian Rural Research and Knowledge (METK), A. Le Coq, and Tartu Biotechnology Park.
