TFTAK has joined the Bio-based Industries Consortium (BIC), one of Europe's most influential networks driving the transition to a sustainable, circular and competitive bio-based economy, as a full industry member.
BIC is no ordinary network. Established in 2013 as a public-private partnership with the European Commission, it brings together industry leaders spanning the entire bio-based value chain – from agriculture and forestry to advanced materials, chemicals and biotechnology. With a combined investment framework exceeding €3.7 billion through the Bio-based Industries Joint Undertaking and its successor, the Circular Bio-based Industries Joint Undertaking (CBE JU), BIC shapes the future of sustainable industry at the highest level in Europe.
What this means for TFTAK
For TFTAK, this is a strategic step that connects two decades of deep expertise in food innovation, precision fermentation and bioprocess optimisation with a high-level network actively shaping European bioeconomy policy and investment. It is also a recognition that the science and innovation happening in Tallinn belongs to that conversation.
Through BIC, TFTAK gains access to a vast European network and resources:
Broader collaboration network – Access to hundreds of industry members and research organisations across food, biotech, chemicals and agriculture, enabling stronger consortium-building for international projects.
Earlier market and technology insight – A seat at the table where European bioeconomy roadmaps are shaped, helping clients anticipate regulatory shifts and emerging opportunities before they become mainstream.
Enhanced funding access – BIC membership strengthens TFTAK's position in EU-funded project consortia, including CBE JU calls, and opens pathways to grants, loans and other European investment mechanisms.
Strategic matchmaking – BIC explicitly supports members through networking and matchmaking platforms, giving TFTAK visibility and opportunity to find potential industrial partners, investors and distributors across the continent.
By joining BIC, TFTAK reinforces its role not only as a scientific and technological partner, but as a gateway to wider European innovation ecosystems. For companies working with TFTAK, this means enhanced capacity to develop future-ready solutions, build international partnerships and bring sustainable bio-based innovations closer to market.
