On April 8, 2026, TFTAK joined Estonia’s science and business delegation during President Alar Karis’ visit to the Netherlands. Andres Maser represented TFTAK in Utrecht, where the programme brought together Estonian and Dutch organisations working across biotechnology, healthtech, genomics, AI and innovation.
The visit to Utrecht Science Park highlighted the importance of close cooperation between science and business in building strong and internationally competitive innovation ecosystems. Meetings and site visits created valuable opportunities to exchange knowledge, identify shared interests and strengthen connections between the Estonian and Dutch innovation communities.
The delegation included representatives from Estonian research and innovation organisations alongside Dutch universities, research centres and companies. For TFTAK, the visit offered a meaningful opportunity to engage with partners whose work connects scientific excellence with industrial application.
One particularly relevant point of contact was Future Food Utrecht’s interdisciplinary food research platform. Its work on sustainable food systems, alternative proteins, microbiome research and nature-inspired food production aligns closely with TFTAK’s focus areas. The discussions confirmed a strong shared understanding that translating research into real-world food innovation requires close industry collaboration, pilot-scale capabilities and interdisciplinary approaches.
For TFTAK, the visit also connected closely with our work in bioprocess optimization. International exchanges of this kind are important for developing new collaborations in microbial fermentation, scalable bioprocesses, and future food and biotechnology solutions.
Business Development Manager at TFTAK, Andres Maser: “Visits like this are valuable because they bring together organisations with complementary strengths and a shared ambition to turn scientific knowledge into practical innovation. For TFTAK, it was especially encouraging to see how strongly our work connects with partners in the Netherlands in areas such as future food, biotechnology and bioprocess development.”

We are grateful to the President of the Republic of Estonia for the honour of being part of the delegation and to the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the excellent organisation of the visit.
